Sydney is the perfect destination for visitors all year round – particularly November as spring turns into summer. If you plan to add some extra days to your trip, the city and its surrounds have much to offer for a short break (visit Sydney.com), or head off to explore the rest of our beautiful country.
Visas and accommodation: International delegates and guests who are not a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, will need to organise a visa to enter the country. Forum delegate rates have been negotiated with a selection of nearby hotels – click here for details. Delegates are advised to make their own enquiries regarding accommodation, travel and visas and not rely solely on the information provided at these links.
How to get around: Once here, Sydney is easy to navigate, with excellent public transport networks - even from the Sydney Airport. Tap on/off to ride using an Opal card (available at all travel hubs and many retailers) or use a contactless-enabled credit or debit card. But pack your walking shoes to experience the best of the city and surrounds! The Forum venue is close to Central Railway Station, but easily accessible from all parts of the city.
Plan ahead: When packing, check the local forecast, however the Forum sessions will be held indoors in airconditioned rooms with access to an external terrace during the breaks. Smart business casual is the dress guide for the Forum day sessions, and evening/dinner dress or lounge suit if you are attending the Awards presentation dinner on the Wednesday evening.
The Australian currency is the dollar (AUD). A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% is included in the purchase price of all consumer goods and services. Tax-free shopping is available at Sydney International Airport and the Australian Government provides a Tourist Refund Scheme. Major credit cards are widely accepted, however Diners Club is not commonly used.
To calculate the best time to dial home, the local summer time zone for Sydney is Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), which is UTC+11. English is the official language in Australia, and will be used at the Forum, however Sydney is home to a multicultural population with more than 1.2 million residents speaking a language other than English.
ARPA is honoured and excited to be your host at the 1st International Forum on Workplace / Vocational Rehabilitation and can’t wait for you to join us!
